About Us

Tustin Area Republican Women Federated (TARWF) was founded in 1973 as a local unit of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW link above), the largest Republican Women's organization in the world with a network of over 100,000 women leaders and activists. We are also chartered under the California Federation of Republican Women (CFRW link above), Southern Division, and the Orange County Federation of Republican Women. Over 30 years later, we are one of the largest Republican Women Federated groups in Orange County.

We are proud to say that our local unit was established under the name of Ivy Baker Priest, the first woman Treasurer of the United States. Appointed by President Eisenhower, she served from 1953 to 1961. In 1966 and again in 1970, she successfully ran for Treasurer of California, becoming the first woman elected to statewide office. She also served Governor Ronald Reagan.

TARWF shares the main objectives os the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW link above). Priority is given to educate members about crucial issues impacting the local territory as well as the nation. TARWF is also committed to strengthening the Republican Party by providing volunteer opportunities to support local and state Republican candidates. TARWF strives to empower women of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds in the political process in order to create a secure future for our children and grandchildren.

Locally, TARWF supports several scholarship funds for young people such as the Betty Rendel Scholarship, Dorothy Kabis Internship and National Pathfinders Scholarship directed toward local women college students who major in political science, government or economics.

TARWF also supports the Salvation Army Substance Abuse Program, the Ettie Lee Home for Boys; Boys & Girls Clubs of Tustin, literacy programs, Books for Kids and Operation Interdependence, an organization that sends letters and care packages to our troops in the field.

TARWF annually participates in the Tustin Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off in June and the Tustin Tiller Days in October. We are also proud to host our exciting "Salute to America and The Military" Dinner each November, an event that pays tribute to our great country and our brave military personnel.
